We are ModeBit

ModeBit is a small group of software veterans living in Malibu, on the Southern California coast. We build tools that make making software easier — starting with the thinking part: diagrams that are real models, drawn with almost no friction, understood by AI as well as by your team.

The engineering runs deeper than the easy surface suggests: somewhere behind DrawMode there is a PhD on the formal description of extensible software architectures, decades of shipped systems, and some strong opinions about what a model owes its reader.

And we have a big vision for the agentic age: software systems deserve to be specified and described, not just coded. Diagrams and specifications become the canvas — the place where humans and AI create together, agree on how a system is constructed, and understand it once it's built.

We've used these techniques successfully for years. What's changed is the substrate: AI that can read, write and reason over the models themselves — far more powerful ground to build on, and we're building on it in a powerful way. Stay tuned — the future is bright. See where it's going →
